Louisville Demolition, Planned Around Your Permit and Your Next Build

Taking a building down in Louisville Metro is as much paperwork and coordination as it is machinery: a wrecking permit, utility sign-offs, an asbestos survey, and neighbors who live a few feet away. Louisville Demolition Co handles that sequence and then brings the crew, so the lot is left graded and ready for whatever you build next.

Four Kinds of Demolition, One Louisville Crew

From gutted interiors to full teardowns, we handle permits, utilities and haul-off so you can focus on what you build next.

Interior Residential Demolition

Louisville's older brick houses are worth keeping, so we take out what is inside and leave the shell intact.

Kitchen & Bathroom Gutting:

Cabinets, fixtures, and tile come out without damaging the plumbing stacks, framing, or plaster you plan to keep.

Wall Removal:

Partition walls come out directly; load-bearing walls are removed only per your engineer's shoring plan.

Flooring Removal:

Hardwood, tile, linoleum, and carpet stripped to the subfloor, with old adhesives tested before disturbance if the house is older.

Exterior & Structural Demolition

When the whole structure has to go, the machine work is the short part. The planning and neighbor protection are where jobs succeed.

Concrete & Asphalt Removal:

Driveways, patios, garage pads, and pool decks broken, loaded, and hauled.

Shed & Accessory Structure Removal:

Detached garages, sheds, and rear additions removed, including those tucked against alleys and property lines.

Pool In-fills & Deck Removal:

Pools filled and compacted to engineered specs and wood or composite decks cleared, ready for landscaping or new construction.

How We Keep Louisville Demolition Safe for the Neighbors

In much of Louisville, the building next door is closer than you would like. Louisville Demolition Co builds each job around protecting people and property that are not part of it.

Plan Before Equipment:

Utilities, adjoining walls, and structural conditions are mapped out before anything is mobilized.

Dust & Runoff Control:

Water, barriers, and sediment controls keep dust and mud off neighboring lots and out of the storm drains.

Hauled Off, Graded Out:

Debris leaves with us, not with you. The lot is left rough-graded and clear for the next contractor.

Insured Crew:

Ask us for current proof of insurance for your project; we carry coverage for the work we perform.

From Permit to Clean Lot

Walk the Site:

We look at the structure, the lot, the alley or street access, and your neighbors' buildings, then put the scope and price in writing.

Wrecking Permit & Sign-Offs:

We work through the Louisville Metro Codes & Regulations wrecking permit and the utility and agency sign-offs it calls for (LG&E, MSD, Louisville Water, APCD). Check current requirements for your address.

Asbestos Survey & Kentucky 811:

A certified inspector surveys the building and APCD is notified ahead of work. Kentucky 811 locates are called in before any ground is disturbed.

Take-Down & Sorting:

The crew brings the structure down in a controlled sequence, with dust control and protection for adjoining property, and separates metal, wood, and masonry for recycling where possible.

Grade, Inspect, Hand Over:

We rough-grade the lot, stabilize it against erosion, and walk it with you before we call the job done.

How Demolition Works in Louisville Metro

Louisville Demolition Co serves homeowners, builders, and commercial owners across Louisville Metro (Jefferson County). The same project lead who walks your site stays on the job through haul-off, so you are never chasing a handoff.

What to expect:

  • Wrecking permit: Issued through Louisville Metro Department of Codes & Regulations, typically with sign-offs from LG&E, MSD, Louisville Water, and APCD. Smaller cities in the county may use their own offices, so we confirm your jurisdiction first.
  • Asbestos: A certified survey comes first, and APCD is notified in writing before covered work. Check current requirements with APCD for your project.
  • Utilities & digging: We request Kentucky 811 locates (typically two working days ahead) and coordinate service cut-offs.
  • Older or historic buildings: Structures around 50 years or older, and those in landmark districts such as Old Louisville or Butchertown, may need extra review before approval.
  • Runoff: Land disturbance may bring MSD erosion-prevention requirements, so the lot is stabilized before we leave.

Where we work: Downtown & NuLu, the Highlands & Germantown, the West End, the East End, and the South End. Call (714) 333-0178 to schedule a site visit.
